Our Staff
Landon Strawhand
President
I started in the insurance industry in 2008 (I know, great timing), but it was the best professional decision of my life! I started working for my father’s agency and evolved from there.
I started COVA insurance in 2019 with one goal in mind, to provide the best possible coverage and the best possible services at the most competitive price.
The most rewarding part of my job is seeing my people succeed! I have always wanted to lift those around me up and open their eyes to what they are capable of accomplishing.
When I am not working you can find me hanging out with my wife Courtney and our two kids Skyler, son, and Carsyn, daughter. My wife and I love playing golf together (she loses way fewer balls than I do.) We enjoy going out for date nights at nice restaurants.
Andy Dee
Commercial Producer
Hello, My name is Andrew Dee and I was born and raised in the Western Branch area of Chesapeake.
I spent about 10 years in various sales positions, gaining the experience needed to obtain a position at COVA Insurance as a commercial line producer!
I love talking and getting to know people! I enjoy playing sports and staying active with my two dogs Bodie and Cali. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen trying out new recipes and cooking for me and my fiancé
Danny Hobbs
Senior Commercial Producer
In 2017 I was working for a corporate company that did not care about its employees. It felt like no matter how hard that I worked that I could not get ahead. I came from an industrial sales background where if you had a slow month you would make less money and if you had a record month and could not match it moving forward you would also make less money.
One day in around July of 2017, my good friend and now agency owner, Landon, called me because he was so excited about a record month he was having. This lined up perfectly with my lowest point at my current career. That day I asked him what I needed to do to come work alongside him and he told me a website to visit to get licensed and to come talk to him if I ever decided to get licensed. I ordered the books that night and self taught myself everything without any background in insurance. NOT EASY. I honestly didn’t even know what I was signing up to do. I passed my exam on the first try, Landon got me hired and I never looked back. This was the smartest decision Ive ever made.
How long have you been doing this? 6yrs
Why do you like doing this? The reason this job worked out so well for me was because I genuinely enjoyed working with contractors and business owners I just did not like who I was working for. Switching to insurance allowed me to continue working with the same style of customers and just switching what I was talking to them about.
What do you do in your free time? I love to workout 5 days a week. I also love spending time with my Wife and two daughters, going to the Outer Banks or to the pool. Im also very much a lawn snob and have become obsessed with taking care of my lawn over the last year.

In my spare time, I love to read and enjoy gardening. I love hanging out with my husband and family.
Jacqueline Dunnagan
Agency Manager
My name is Jacqueline Dunnagan and I’ve been working in and around the insurance industry for almost 20 years. I started out working as a receptionist for another insurance agency, dabbled in accounting and went on to get my Property & Casualty license from there.
I have become the “Jackie” of all trades working in all departments throughout the years, but in Commercial Lines as an Account Manager for nearly the 20 years in the industry. Currently with COVA Insurance, I handle our accounting and bookkeeping, I am a commercial lines account manager, as well as the agency manager. I also assist with training our new employees.
I love working in this industry as a Commercial Lines Account Manager as it gives me the opportunity to work with many people in several different types of business industries. I strive to set myself apart from competitors by focusing on learning the risks of our client’s business in order to educate them, not only on what they will need but also why they will need it to best insure and protect their assets.
In my free time, I love to create. I have always loved art and painting, primarily with oil and watercolor; however, I live working with and trying new mediums. I also love anything outdoors from hiking, biking, and camping to relaxing on the beach and paddleboarding.

Rebecca Riggs
New Business Coordinator
Hey! My name is Rebecca Riggs and I am the New Business Coordinator here at COVA Insurance. I got into the industry just over 10 years ago as the receptionist at a local insurance company. I have worked for a few different independent insurance agencies before having the amazing opportunity to be a part of COVA Insurance from the beginning.
I started out as the receptionist and about 2 and a half years ago received my license and have been in the New Business Coordinator position ever since. I enjoy doing this because it is something different every day. From handling the commercial quoting to commercial claims and billing there is never a dull moment. I really enjoy being able to help our clients with their insurance questions and help them have a little more ease about the issues they may have, and I get to learn more in the process as well!
In my free time I really love going camping with my husband and our 2 boys! We enjoy being outside as much as possible. I enjoy trying new things with my family and going on adventures, whether it be a new museum, going apple picking or staying local and going to the zoo or aquarium.
Rhaberra Jackson
Personal Lines Agent
Hello, my name is Rhaberra Jackson with COVA Insurance. I started my insurance career with Geico in August of 1999. Geico gave me the foundation of what it takes to be a professional agent.
A few years ago, working at Insurance Shopper VA, I realized I prefer to be an independent agent versus captive agent as it gives me more options to offer to my clients. This allows me to have more of a personal experience with our clients to be able to offer the best policy to fit their needs.
I enjoy helping people. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband, kids, and granddaughter.
